Gemini API Bulletin Board

Point-of-Order:

By design, the PolyAlgo system issues just three (3) types of requests to the Gemini API –

  • Live Stream Feed for paired cryptocurrencies.
  • Order Requests for Buy & Sell processing.
  • Order Status for Broker Clearance data.

There are no account management requests to transfer funds, create trading accounts, etc. which are the responsibilities of the subscriber/trader. XCaliber recommends transferring profits on a regular basis to the bank account associated with your Gemini account as a precaution in the unregulated cryptocurrency marketplace.

Upgrading to a Gemini Live Trading Account from an experimental Gemini Sandbox Account:

Owing to the fact Gemini associates a mobile phone number with each account, it is recommended that a Sandbox Account be closed before establishing a new Live Trading Account – or maintain two (2) separate mobile phone numbers (and eMail addresses) – one for the Sandbox Account and one for the Live Trading Account.

Converting a Gemini Sandbox Account to a Live Trading Account is a one-way transition and it created some confusion when contacting Gemini for support afterwards as to whether it was no longer a test environment.

PolyAlgo Portfolio Management allocates an outsized ten percent (10%) of trading profits for fees. Please review the current Gemini API Fee Schedule for the taker and maker fees.

Important: Communications with Gemini support is not timely and tends to plod along, back-and-forth via eMails for days at a time.

Occasionally the Gemini API would report “Insufficient Funds” when issuing a buy order for less than $1.00 and the account has more than enough to cover the purchase. It appears to be a bug in the Gemini software incorrectly reporting a processing exception.

The Gemini API has responded with “Invalid Nonce” when sending an order to the brokerage. This occurs because the PolyAlgo service is a multi-tasking application which can send requests simultaneously to the Gemini server. The request is re-scheduled and subsequently processed through the application.

The Gemini API has responded with “API request failed: contact Gemini support with error id ‘857p17kgp’” when sending an order to the brokerage. This intermittent error seems to get corrected when the Gemini API service is restarted. As a precaution, PolyAlgo trading is paused and will wait for the subscriber to start the portfolios again.

Note: This error has been reported to Gemini support previously. Days later, they requested the market order be re-tried, which was successful. XCaliber recommends waiting an hour and then restarting the PolyAlgo Portfolios.

XCaliber Exchange participates in the Gemini Referral Rewards program which is available to every subscriber and client of Gemini.

XCaliber Exchange recommends keeping things simple when considering other Gemini product offerings.
